She was the nose in their house. The reason why the fridge was not necessarily needed as she could tell whether the butter, milk or cheese is fresh or not. Her mother takes her along while shopping in order for her to know what to buy and what not to buy. Therefore, her sense of smell has been developed from a very young age.

In 1960, her family moved to Poland and she then studied analytical inorganic chemistry. About 5 years later, they moved again to the America to stay with some of their acquaintances from Russia.

Education and Career

When her family emigrated to Poland, she got her Bachelor of Science in analytical inorganic chemistry. In 1965, she got employed as a lab assistant at IFF, she worked with Elle Fox, who is a great American perfumer.

Though she uses few ingredients in her perfumes, she creates great character from each one. She discovered that if she overdose on a certain ingredient in a perfume it can propel it to the top of the perfume charts. Most of her perfumes have roses as their basis.

Due to her hard work and dedication, she got noticed by some renowned performers. Her mentors, Ernest Shiftan and Josephine Catapano noticed she has the potential to be great and they helped her to achieve that greatness.
